Vokka Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Vokka (the “App”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use it.
Information we handle
Flashcards and content you create
Folders, flashcards, language settings, and related content are stored in an on-device SQLite database. The App does not currently upload your saved folders or cards as part of its ordinary local storage feature.
When you ask the App to translate text or generate flashcards, the text and related request settings are sent to our Supabase-hosted functions so they can provide a response. A request can include the text you entered, selected languages, language level, and generation options. Generated results are returned to the App. Avoid submitting sensitive or confidential information in these requests.
Account and service identifiers
The App creates an anonymous Supabase authentication session. Supabase may process an account identifier, authentication/session data, and technical request information to provide this service and authorize translation or card-generation requests. The App does not require you to provide a name, email address, or password to use this anonymous session.
App preferences and device storage
The App stores settings and usage-related values on your device, including onboarding state, language preferences, sort preferences, and local feature counters. Some language and display preferences are synchronized using Apple’s iCloud key-value store when iCloud is available and enabled for your device. Flashcard content itself is stored locally by the App.
Voice features
The App uses Apple’s speech synthesis to read text aloud. The implementation uses on-device system speech synthesis and does not request microphone access or record your voice.
Purchases and subscriptions
The App uses Superwall to configure and present subscription or purchase experiences. Apple processes App Store transactions. These services may receive purchase, entitlement, device, and diagnostic information needed to present offers and manage access. Please review Apple’s privacy information and Superwall’s privacy policy for their practices.
Analytics
The project includes PostHog analytics integration, but the PostHog project token and host are blank in the current app configuration. This build therefore is not configured to send analytics events to PostHog. If analytics are enabled in a future version, this policy should be updated to describe the events and identifiers collected.
How we use information
We use information handled by the App and its service providers to:
- Provide local flashcard, language-learning, translation, and card-generation features.
- Authenticate requests to the App’s backend and prevent misuse of service limits.
- Present purchase options and determine subscription entitlement.
- Maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the App and its services.
- Comply with legal obligations.
How information is shared
We share information only as needed to operate the features described above, including with:
- Supabase, which provides anonymous authentication and hosts the functions used for translation and flashcard generation.
- Superwall and Apple, which support paywall presentation, App Store purchases, and subscription entitlement.
- Apple iCloud, which synchronizes selected preferences when enabled by your device settings.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law or when necessary to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service.
The App does not sell personal information. We do not use information for cross-app advertising or behavioral advertising through the App as currently configured.
Retention and deletion
Flashcards and folders remain in the App’s local database until you delete them or remove the App and its data. Settings synchronized through iCloud are subject to your Apple account and iCloud settings. Supabase, Superwall, and Apple may retain information under their own policies and retention practices. The project code does not specify a retention period for backend or purchase-service records; contact us to ask about a particular request or account identifier.
You can delete locally saved flashcards and folders in the App. You can manage or disable iCloud synchronization through your Apple device settings. To request deletion of an anonymous backend account or ask about information held by a service provider, contact us using the details below and include enough information for us to identify the relevant account without sending sensitive data.
Your choices and privacy rights
You can choose whether to use translation or generation features, manage App Store subscriptions through Apple, and manage iCloud through your device settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify the request and may be unable to fulfill requests concerning records controlled by Apple or another service provider; in that case, we will direct you to that provider where appropriate.
Children’s privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13, or a higher age where local law requires parental consent, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us so we can review and take appropriate steps.
Security
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the App’s design to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Information sent to third-party services is also subject to those providers’ security practices.
International processing
Our service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, appropriate safeguards for international transfers will be used.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App or its services change. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and provide additional notice in the App or by other appropriate means when required.
